6 December 2008 | DESIGNING THE LIVING MACHINE
As art director on The Motion Picture Richard Taylor was responsible for the design of the V’Ger entity. With his team of conceptual artists and production illustrators, Taylor brought to the screen a machine and being unlike anything seen before.
One of the artists was David J. Negron. This illustration of his, of the Enterprise approaching the Voyager probe at the center of V’Ger, is now on display in our article “Designing the Living Machine” courtesy of Mr Negron.
5 December 2008 | SPOCK’S SPACEWALK
On The Motion Picture Doug Trumbull was responsible for the interior appearance of V’Ger—including the spacewalk that replaced the failed “Memory Wall” sequence.
Last month, Forgotten Trek contacted Mr David J. Negron to ask about his contributions to the spacewalk scene. Mr Negron was kind enough to provide our website with a selection of the storyboards he produced for the film. See these previously-unseen artworks now in display in our “Spock’s Spacewalk” article.

Forgotten Trek not only interviewed David J. Negron Jr., but his father, David J. Negron Sr., also! Mr Negron Sr. worked as senior illustrator on Star Trek: The Motion Picture. His work included the storyboarding of the Spock’s spacewalk sequence and the transformation of V’Ger.
Mr Negron Sr. kindly provided both insight into the production of The Motion Picture as well as many storyboards drawn by him for the film! Click here to read the interview!

David J. Negron Jr. followed in his father’s footsteps in the movie industry. He worked as visual effects supervisor and illustrator on many films—including the tenth Star Trek feature film, Nemesis.
