Great news for readers of online dieselpunk and steampunk news and fiction! The Gatehouse Gazette may no longer be in regular publication but there are plenty of other e-zines and the likes available for you to enjoy.
One we recently discovered is Steampunk Illumination Society’s monthly newsletter. While thin, it features a roundup of scene news and short articles from the Texas group. It’s quite nifty. Thanks to Larry Amyett who brought the newsletter to our attention. He also has a dieselpunk feature in the most recent edition.
Chris Garcia and his team have produced another edition of Exhibition Hall, their twenty-fifth (PDF) in fact. It’s a bit short but worth checking out, as always. There’s an article in there about a fandom documentary project, a report from the first Sacramento Steam Society Swapmeet, a February event in California, and a review of Lilith Saintcrow’s The Iron Wyrm Affair (2012). And Brad Foster’s cover is just amazing.
Do you need more gritty, hardboiled noir in your life? Do you feel the urge to drag on your beaten coat, tip your fedora to just the right angle and slum it in a smoky speakeasy Do the grimy streets of another age call to you from deep within your blood? If so, then do I have the book for you.
It features stories by Grant Gardiner, John Picha, Bard Constantine and Jack Philpott and some great cover artwork. Downloadable in an array of formats.
There’s also a new issue of SteamPunk Magazine in the makes and the publication is accepting submissions for issue #10.
