Re: Students For Orwell

Now that the UK television series 'Big Brother' is finally coming to an end after a decade or so of shows, can it be that Orwell fans are fighting to retake the name?

The SOS reminds me of the AoA (Agents of Apathy) I encountered when at university.  I never found out much about them, but they had posters up saying 'How Little Can You Care?' with pictures of bombing and reference to the year 1951.  I do not know if they were a band or an art group or writers or what, but their iconography (a small 'o' wedged between two angular very 20th century utilitarian font letter As) seemed Orwellian in nature.  I suppose this comes under the label of 'totalitarian chic'.

This group, SOS seems to be taking some kind of political stance.

Excellent - the points are well made, but won't be taken on board.  We need more of this critical satire.

the trouble with our times is that the future is not what it used to be
